Job summary

Pet Supplies Plus is seeking a Groom Student to start a paid training path through Paragon School of Pet Grooming and learn grooming techniques for dogs to breed standards.

Successful candidates will receive a free tool kit valued over $600 after hire, and will help deliver grooming services while engaging with neighbors and pets in a friendly store environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail or pet-related environment is a plus.
• Candidate must be able to move or lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, bend or stoop for extended periods.
• Willingness to learn grooming techniques and safety practices.
• Must be able to pass drug screening where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Learn and demonstrate grooming skills through the online distance program.
• Delight neighbors and pets with brushing, bathing, and clipping to breed styles.
• Ensure the safety and welfare of animals in care.
• Develop relationships with neighbors by understanding their pet needs and recommending products.
• Complete Safety Training certification and keep the grooming area clean.

Responsibilities/Qualifications

As a Groom Student at Pet Supplies Plus, you're pawsitively passionate about people and their pets! You will:

• attend our free, paid training through the world renown Paragon School of Pet Grooming.
• get comfortable with all tools and grooming equipment
• learn how to bathe and style dogs to breed standards
• upon hire, receive a free tool kit worth over $600 as a bonus!

Groom Student key responsibilities include:

• Learning and demonstrating all the skills necessary to be a groomer through the online distance program.
• Delighting Neighbors and pets with grooming services, such as brushing, bathing, and clipping to breed styles.
• Always ensuring the wellness and safety of furry patrons.
• Developing long-term relationships with Neighbors by understanding their needs and recommending products and services that will keep their pet healthy and happy.
• Successfully completing Safety Training certification.
• Performing routine cleaning to keep the grooming environment fun and inviting.
• Assisting store team members during grooming downtime.

PAWsome Groom Student candidates will have:

• A High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in retail or other industry where they have experience working with pets are welcome, but not required.
• Ability to move or lift merchandise, equipment or pets weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, bend or stoop for extended periods of time.
• Ability to review videos and take tests online.
• Flexibility in working evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Candidates must pass the drug screening (in applicable states) and validated selection test and be 18 years or older.
