Job summary

Meijer Store Manager position in Ohio seeks a seasoned leader to drive daily store operations, coach staff, and deliver strong sales results while upholding Meijer standards. You will oversee staffing, training, and service quality, ensuring safe, efficient operations and a positive customer experience.

Ideal candidates bring 2–3 years in retail with at least 1 year in a supervisory role, plus financial acumen and a commitment to Meijer’s values and community involvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store (meat, bakery, produce, deli) and customer service experience are helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly within the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict and address root causes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use it to inform decisions; ability to teach suggestive selling.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices safe work at all times.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor team members across roles.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise daily store operations.

• Manage P&L, sales, and shrink for the department.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.

• Mentor team members to exceed customer service and sales goals.
• Ensure staff are trained and up to date on required training.
• Spend majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members to ensure service quality.
• Promote a safe work environment.
• Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Plans, directs and supervises team members in the day to day operations within various departments of the store. Serves as the mentor and coach for all team members. Implements strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales while ensuring customer needs are met and service is quick and efficient. Maintains store appearance with a focus on prime shopping hours, product presentation and company standards.

What You'll be Doing:

• Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Responsible for staffing, selection and hiring to achieve staffing needs.
• Promotes succession planning by providing career paths, identifying development needs for the team members, and being involved with and accountable for promotion decisions.
• Documents and applies disciplinary actions and makes recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Models exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.

• Mentors and coaches the team members to ensure customer service and sales goals are exceeded and the area is maintained to Meijer standards.
• Ensures the team is thoroughly trained in all aspects of their jobs and have completed all required training.
• Spends majority of time within the store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service is being delivered.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):
