Job summary

Brookshire Grocery Company is seeking a dedicated grocery associate to maintain product levels, display standards, and high quality across the grocery department. You will ensure proper stock rotation, assist customers, and support sales growth while complying with safety practices.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and flexible scheduling in a retail environment, with opportunities to contribute to a positive shopping experience for customers.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Able to operate pallet jack (18+ to operate equipment).
• Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Willing to learn new technology systems and processes.
• Flexible with shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Maintain full stock conditions on grocery display racks and shelves.
• Operate pallet jack to unload from warehouses and reload trucks with returns.
• Ensure dated products are stocked, rotated, or discarded properly if unsold.
• Inspect product quality and uphold food safety standards.
• Assist customers with price checks and locate products.
• Promote sales through suggestive selling techniques.
• Provide friendly, customer-service oriented assistance and respond to inquiries.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment per company policies.

Job description

Job Summary

Maintain product levels and quality control in the grocery department. Ensure products are displayed according to company standards and comply with all regulatory food safety practices. Promote customer service and sales-building practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain full stock conditions on grocery display racks and shelves.
• Operate pallet jack to unload product from warehouse trucks and reload trucks with return items (partners 18+ years).
• Ensure dated product is stocked, rotated, or discarded properly if unsold.
• Inspect product for quality and maintain quality control and food safety standards.
• Collect empty cardboard boxes and other trash and place into bailer (partners 18+ years).
• Assist fellow partners and customers by responding to price check questions and locating product.
• Promote product sales through use of suggestive selling initiatives.
• Provide friendly and customer service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions, and responding to customer complaints.
• Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to company safety procedures.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Takes precautionary safety measures when using equipment and work tools.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to operate manual or electric pallet jack (partners 18+ years).
• Ability to safely operate and maintain department equipment.
• Ability to handle objects gently to avoid damage to items, people, vehicles, and property.
• Ability to safely work with sharp objects such as knives, box cutters, etc.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work well with fellow partners and promote a team environment.
• Ability to learn new technology systems, methods, and processes.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices quickly.
• Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.

Education, Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of 16 years of age required.
• Minimum of 18 years of age required to operate equipment.
• Partners must be 21 years of age or older to drive for company business in accordance with the BGC Business Driver Policy.
• Typically involves on-the-job training.

• Continuously required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or the ability to focus.

• Continuously required to use hands for reaching, touching or handling.
• Continuously required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 40 lbs.
