Job summary

Smith's Food & Drug Centers is seeking a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger to provide outstanding customer service at checkout and maintain a clean, safe store environment. You will bag groceries, help customers load bags into their cars when appropriate, and assist with basic stocking and store cleanliness.

The role emphasizes friendly interactions, adherence to safety and food-handling standards, and effective communication with customers and team members.

Qualifications

• Minimum Position Qualifications: Customer Service skills and Effective communication skills are required.
• Desired Previous Job Experience: Retail Experience is preferred but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger bags groceries at checkout and assists customers.
• Aim for at least five items per bag while ensuring contents stay intact.
• Bag items using appropriate reusable/plastic/paper bags.
• Help customers load bags into their car when needed.
• Perform basic shelf conditioning and restocking as required.
• Inform customers of grocery specials and promotions.
• Return merchandise to shelves and gather bascarts.
• Clean spills, collect trash in store and parking lot.
• Maintain cleanliness inside and outside of store.
• Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to management.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Provide friendly, welcoming service and help customers with product questions.
