Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies is hiring at 3300 E Portland Rd, Newberg, OR for a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger. You will bag groceries, assist customers, and help maintain a clean, safe store environment while upholding our values of respect, honesty, integrity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities include bagging, assisting with loading, shelf conditioning, price checks, and supporting diverse customer needs in a fast-paced setting. We welcome part- and full-time applicants.

Qualifications

• Retail experience is preferred but not necessary.
• Must be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Bag groceries at checkout for customers.
• Strive for at least five items in the bag while ensuring contents are not damaged.
• Follows best practices for bagging items in various bag types (reusable, plastic, paper).
• Assist in removing customer’s merchandise from the bottom of bascart for checkout.
• Offer to help customers load bags into their car.
• Perform basic shelf conditioning.
• Inform customers of grocery specials.
• Return merchandise to store shelves.
• Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
• Clean spills, collect and pick up trash inside store and parking lot.
• Clean all areas inside and outside of store.
• Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
• Understand store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notify management.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting needs.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering product questions.
• Adhere to local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts in a calm, nonconfrontational manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide support for minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
