Job summary

Bristol Farms is seeking a Grocery Clerk in Santa Monica to provide exceptional customer service, stock shelves, price merchandise, and operate the cash register. The role requires attention to expiration dates, price integrity, and daily price updates before the store opens.

Candidates with a HS diploma or GED and some related experience are preferred. The position supports the Grocery department, reporting to the Grocery Manager, and involves standing for long periods and lifting up to 50

• Rotates stock to maintain high quality and fresh merchandise.
• Operate a cash register following established policies and procedures.
• Accurately prices all merchandise with shelf tags/signs.
• Maintains price integrity with daily price updates before store opening.
• Monitors pull dates on all Grocery merchandise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Grocery Clerk is responsible for providing service that exceeds the expectations of customers by performing the following duties (other duties may be assigned):

• Fills customer orders by obtaining items from shelves, freezers, coolers, bins, tables, or containers.
• Stocks shelves, dairy cases, and other areas of the department.
• Assures that all items in the dairy box are in-code and well within their expiration date.
• Rotates stock to assure high quality, and fresh merchandise at all times.
• Required to operate a cash register following established policies and procedures.
• Accurately prices all merchandise by stamping, marking, or placing shelf tags/signs.
• Assures daily price changes are done accurately and completed before the store opens; maintaining price integrity at all times.
• Monitors pull dates on all Grocery merchandise.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the Grocery Clerk is regularly required to stand for long periods; walk; frequently use of hands; hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The Grocery Clerk occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms. The Grocery Clerk is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Grocery Clerk must frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision.
