Job summary

Bristol Farms is seeking a detail-oriented Grocery Clerk to ensure a welcoming shopping experience. You will help customers find products, stock merchandise, and operate a checkout registering and pricing duties with accuracy.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and a positive, can-do attitude in a busy grocery setting. Full-time opportunities include growth and employee benefits, with a focus on hospitality and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training.
• Ability to provide friendly, helpful service and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers by locating items and answering questions.
• Stock shelves and dairy cases; ensure price integrity and correct labels.
• Operate a cash register following policies and procedures.
• Maintain product freshness by rotating stock and checking expiration dates.
• Monitor dates on groceries and ensure proper shelf presentation.
• Assist with daily opening tasks and closing duties as needed.

What Will Be On Your Plate?

Job Title: Grocery Clerk

Department: Grocery

Reports To: Grocery Manager

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Fills customer orders by obtaining items from shelves, freezers, coolers, bins, tables, or containers.
• Stocks shelves, dairy cases, and other areas of the department.
• Assures that all items in the dairy box are in-code and well within their expiration date.
• Rotates stock to assure high quality, and fresh merchandise at all times.
• Required to operate a cash register following established policies and procedures.
• Accurately prices all merchandise by stamping, marking, or placing shelf tags/signs.
• Assures daily price changes are done accurately and completed before the store opens; maintaining price integrity at all times.
• Monitors pull dates on all Grocery merchandise.

Customer Service Skills

The Grocery Clerk is expected to provide customer service that is extra ordinary and exceeds the expectations of our customers. They are required to follow established policies and guidelines that go beyond simply smiling and greeting customers. Going above and beyond encompasses attitudes, respect, and flexibility. The Grocery Clerk is expected to have a positive “can-do” attitude; treat others with respect; and easily adjust to changes in the workplace.

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the Grocery Clerk is regularly required to stand for long periods; walk; frequently use of hands; hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The Grocery Clerk occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms. The Grocery Clerk is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Grocery Clerk must frequently lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision.
