Job summary

Smith's Food and Drug in Salt Lake City area seeks a Grocery Clerk to deliver exceptional customer service and help the department meet sales goals. You will assist customers, check product freshness, stock shelves, and maintain safety standards across the department.

Responsibilities

• Grocery Clerk helps customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Grocery Clerk informs customers of food specials and recommends items to meet their needs.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates.
• Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products they ordered.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
• Respond to product questions and suggest alternatives to customers.
• Create a welcoming environment that makes customers feel valued in-store.
• Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to management.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of needed repairs.
• Support management in accidents and conflict resolution.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment.

• Grocery Clerk helps customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Grocery Clerk informs customers of food specials and recommends grocery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness. Review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
• Grocery Clerk provides customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products that they have ordered.

• Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
