• Grocery Clerk helps customers discover products and respond to inquiries.
• Informs customers of specials and recommends items to meet needs.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell by dates.
• Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products ordered.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and logs.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions.
• Create an welcoming environment and assist customers throughout the store.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and arrange repairs as needed.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
• Handle conflicts in a respectful and cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions:

• ·Grocery Clerk helps customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• ·Grocery Clerk informs customers of food specials and recommends grocery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• ·Check product quality to ensure freshness. Review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
• ·Grocery Clerk provides customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products that they have ordered.
• ·Recommend grocery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
