DRIV-LOK in Sycamore, IL is seeking a Grinding - Setup Operator to set up, operate and maintain centerless grinding processes. The role requires reading prints, documenting data, and using precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet quality standards.

You will work with Z mic, air gage, roundness tester and other grinding gaging equipment, while ensuring safe operation and adherence to procedures. This is a full-time, on-site position with opportunities to contribute to process

Qualifications

  • Centerless grinding experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 to 3 years related experience typical.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate and maintain grinding to meet quality specs.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings and process sheets.
  • Document and move materials to next operation.
  • Enter data into the SPC system according to procedures.
  • Operate Z mic and various grinding gaging equipment.
  • Maintain machines, area housekeeping and lubrication.
  • Produce quality product to meet specifications.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Grinding - Setup Operator

Full Time Sycamore, IL, US

Salary Range: $22.00 To $30.00 Hourly

**Centerless Grinding Experience Required**

PURPOSE:

Set up, operate and maintain the manufacturing of a ground diameter product that meets quality requirements.

POSITION EXPECTATIONS AND JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Understands the proper use of various precision measuring instruments.
  • Understands how to document and move materials to next operation.
  • Must be able to read and understand the print for grinding requirements.
  • Can demonstrate knowledge and use of computerized SPC system with entering data according to procedures.
  • Operate Z mic.
  • Set up and operate air gage, roundness tester, and various other grinding gaging equipment.
  • The skill and mechanical ability to set up and operate the following: dress wheels, regulating wheel, select proper speeds and feeds for various materials.
  • The ability to regulate coolant flow.
  • The ability to set up and operate vibrator feeders.
  • The skill and mechanical ability to set up and operate a finish grinding process, and/or centerless grinding machine.
  • Is responsible for machines, area housekeeping, and lubrication of machines.
  • Produce quality product to meet required specifications.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or his/her designee.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Read, write and simple shop mathematics, and/or charts. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Typically have the equivalent of 1 to 3 years' related experience.

LANGUAGE ABILITY:

Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, process sheets, documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Have good communication skills.

MATH ABILITY:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to work with close tolerances and produce high surface finishes.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be flexible in work assignments and be able to work cooperatively as a team member and demonstrate respect and courtesy to all internal and external customers.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to learn to operate the computer systems used at Driv-Lok.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts in a factory environment with noise, oil, and smoke.

The employee will be working with centerless and surface grinders, precision measuring instruments; vibrator feeders, hand and fork lift trucks, scoops, weight scales, hoist and copy machine.
