Job summary

Dimar Manufacturing Corporation in Clarence, New York, is seeking a grinder/operator for full-time roles on multiple shifts. The position requires a high school diploma or GED and 1–2 years of manufacturing experience, with the ability to work overtime, including weekends.

You will set up, operate, and tend grinding tools to remove burrs and imperfections on metal pieces, inspect surfaces, and polish to a smooth finish.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, or tend grinding and related tools to remove material and polish surfaces.
• Operate all grinding, deburring, sanding, and polishing tools proficiently.
• Examine the surface with touch to detect defects.
• Move grinder over the workpiece to remove scratches and imperfections.
• Polish ground areas to produce a smooth, unmarred surface.
• Follow all safety procedures.

Job Summary

Set up, operate, or tend grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, hone, or polish metal pieces.

• Multiple shifts available, Monday-Friday
• Operate all tools for grinding, deburring, sanding and polishing while being proficient in grinding sheet metal.
• Examines and feels surface of work piece for defects.
• Moves grinder over surface of work piece to remove scratches and imperfections
• Polishes ground areas with finer abrasive to produce smooth, unmarred surface

Non-essential Duties:

• Replaces worn abrasive disks, wheels, and belts
• Selects grade of abrasive belt, wheel, or disk according to specifications
• Assists in other production areas as needed
• Follows all safety procedures

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Possesses basic technical knowledge of grinding tools and their safe operation
• Able to follow directions precisely and perform repetitive tasks

Special Requirements:

• Machine shop work environment; dust, grease and metal shavings common.
• Requires the use of the following personal protective equipment:
• Safety glasses, steel toed shoes/boots.
• Must be able to:
• Work safely in a fast paced environment
• Work overtime, including weekends as requested.
