Job Summary

The Grinding Operator will be responsible for identifying, sorting and disassembling materials according to production need. The Grinding Operator is responsible for safely operating grinding equipment and checking product to ensure conformity to HPI standards. This position is a full-time employment or temp to hire position on a fixed work schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Start up, set up, operate, and tend to the grinding and shredder operations.
  • Inspect, identify, disassemble, and sort materials into boxes for production according to job.
  • Examine materials to verify conformance to quality standards.
  • Safe use of material handling equipment.
  • Secure and store product in appropriate storage areas.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Follow safety procedures and wear PPE as required.
  • Safe operation of tools including small power tools.
  • Observe machine operations, control boards and gauges to detect any defective material or any machine malfunctions.
  • Other tasks deemed necessary by the Shift Lead, Coordinator or Corporate Management.
Working Conditions
  • Warehouse and manufacturing environment.
  • Exposures encountered: noise, extreme heat and cold, dust, forklift traffic and occasional outdoor work.
  • Essential physical requirements: standing on concrete for long periods, climbing stairs, lifting, stooping, and bending.
  • Frequently lift and or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Occasional weekend work and overtime.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow written instructions.
  • Perform basic math calculations.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • May be required to work in and around magnetic field that could possibly affect medical devices including implants and pacemakers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous forklift experience.
  • One year of work experience in plastics manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding or knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
