Job summary

Dynamic Tool Corporation in Wisconsin is seeking a skilled Grinder to perform precision grinding of mold components and tooling. You will work from engineering drawings, select grinding wheels, and ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish to meet exact specifications.

You will collaborate with toolmakers, engineering, and production to support the manufacture, maintenance, and repair of high-quality injection molds, while maintaining safety and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of related experience in mold/tooling grinding.
• Knowledge of injection mold building and injection molding is a plus.
• Formal education in machining or tool and die trades preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC grinding equipment to produce precision mold components.
• Interpret drawings and specifications to determine grinding requirements and tolerances.

JOB PROFILE SUMMARY:

The Grinder is responsible for precision grinding of mold components and tooling to meet exact dimensional, surface finish, and quality requirements. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound machining practices, and the ability to work from engineering drawings and specifications. The Grinder collaborates with toolmakers, engineering, and production to support the manufacture, maintenance, and repair of high-quality injection molds.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

The individual in this position must be able to successfully perform the job duties listed below.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate manual and CNC grinding equipment, including surface grinders, to produce precision mold and tooling components.
• Interpret engineering drawings, job instructions, and specifications to determine grinding requirements, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Select and dress grinding wheels based on material, finish, and job requirements.
• Grind components to specified dimensions, tolerances, flatness, squareness, and surface finish requirements.
• Inspect work using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, indicators, height gages, and gage blocks.
• Identify and correct grinding issues, including size variation, taper, burn, chatter, and surface finish concerns.
• Perform routine equipment checks and basic preventive maintenance to keep grinding equipment operating safely and accurately.
• Maintain accurate job documentation and follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Work Experience:

• 1+ years of related experience
• Knowledge of the injection mold building and injection molding is a plus.

Education:

• Associate degree and completion of a certified tool and die apprenticeship program.
• Machining, grinding, or Tool & Die trade training or certification preferred.
• Experience with manual and CNC grinding equipment and precision inspection tools is preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience performing precision grinding in a mold, tool and die, or close-tolerance manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with hardened tool steels, carbide, wheel selection, wheel dressing, and grinding best practices.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and working with machinery.
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for precision work.
