Job summary

Schnucks Markets, Inc. is seeking a counter sales clerk to provide friendly customer service, assist with product selections, stock and merchandize, operate cash terminals, and maintain a clean work area.

The role requires standing for long shifts, lifting up to 50 pounds, and daily store-level training. Candidates should be familiar with Schnucks products, follow sanitation procedures, and be ready for occasional varied duties as directed by store management.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly and courteous service to customers
• Regular attendance is essential
• Be familiar with products sold
• Assist customers with product selections, including sampling and limited suggestive selling
• Advise customers of preparation instructions and serving suggestion
• Stock product in cases
• Rotate product and straighten displays
• Pull product from cases at closing for storage
• Maintain cleanliness of work area, equipment, cases and backroom
• Operate and clean soda, tea and coffee machines and other department equipment
• Fry chicken and use microwave and steamer
• Use digital scale and slicer
• Operate a cash terminal
• Read shelf tags and product labels
• Make signs
• Other duties may be assigned by store management
• Training will be provided at store level
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Working on feet entire shift (4-8 hours)
• Internal candidates: six months with Schnucks preferred (store teammates) or one year (store support center)
• Must be in good standing (not on PIP or discipline)
• Interview requires manager approval based on performance
