Job summary

Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services seeks a Grill Station cook in Putney, VT. You will prepare food and serve customers at the grill, following federal, state and corporate standards to ensure high-quality service.

This full-time role has flexible days and hours; pay range is $17.00 to $18.00 per hour. Prior cooking experience is preferred; Compass Group provides training and a benefits package including health and wellness programs, retirement plans, and employee discounts.

Responsibilities

• Takes orders from customers and prepares items requiring short preparation; completes orders from steam tables and serves customers at multiple stations.
• Serves customers efficiently and friendly, ensuring food temperature and quality; tastes all prepared items.
• Uses established ticket‑collection procedures; responsible for service records.
• Uses approved recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, temperatures and portion control.
• Carries pans, kettles and trays to and from workstations, stove and refrigerator per safety standards.
• Stores foods in designated areas following wrapping, dating, rotation and food safety procedures.
• Cleans, sanitizes and maintains assigned work areas, equipment and utensils to meet sanitation standards.
• Resolves customer concerns and reports relevant information to supervisor.
• Attends in‑service and safety meetings.
• Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers and managers.
• Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Pay Range

$17.00 to $18.00 per hour.
