Job summary

NYSERDA is seeking a Project Manager/ Project Manager II/ Sr. Project Manager - Power Grid Innovation to plan, develop, and manage grid modernization interventions.

Travel ~10–15% of time; report to the Program Manager, Power Grid Innovation. The role advances grid technology adoption, coordinates with public service and utilities, and drives program execution across transmission, distribution, and grid edge initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in the electricity sector or a related field.
• Experience in electric grid sector and knowledge of grid planning or operations.
• Experience with new technology development and/or implementation.
• Proficiency with MS Office, Salesforce, Tableau, and Asana.
• Willingness to travel 10–20% across New York State.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement high-impact interventions that leverage financing opportunities for grid modernization efforts.
• Identify market barriers and opportunities through analysis and industry engagement.
• Work closely with the department of public service and utilities on grid flexibility interventions.
• Manage implementation of initiatives, monitor initiative performance and provide recommendations grounded in analysis.
• Oversee consultants and contractors including statements of work, contracts, budgeting, and invoicing.
• Prepare reports on program performance and convey technical information to non-technical readers.
• Represent NYSERDA at meetings and events with external stakeholders.
• Contribute to a team culture of openness and collaboration.
• Actively manage a broad range of technical projects, contractors and budgets toward commercialization/adoption.
• Research, track and analyze policies at state/regional/federal/global levels relevant to transmission and distribution.
• Identify opportunities to improve program creation and delivery by benchmarking against similar programs.
• Develop solicitations offering public funding for smart grid technologies.
