Job summary

Answers In Genesis Group at the Creation Museum (Petersburg, KY) seeks a Conservatory Horticulture Technician to help develop and care for living plant collections and to support educational programs for visitors.

The role involves IPM, fertilizer management, labeling, and maintaining plant health in conservatories and related spaces, with physical duties such as lifting and outdoor work in varying conditions.

Qualifications

• Must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith.
• Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Regularly attends a local Bible-believing church.
• 1+ years of experience in horticulture, gardening, landscape maintenance, nursery or greenhouse plant production.
• Flexible work schedule based upon project needs which may require longer or off-peak hours.
• Able to communicate effectively with guests, contractors and management.
• Ability to obtain a pesticide application license.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission and standards of Answers in Genesis.
• Create a SERVE culture environment in all work done.
• Approach all tasks with a second mile mindset.
• Prepare the conservatory for daily operations, special events and educational programs.
• Maintain specimens, collections, and crops using horticultural techniques and IPM strategies.
• Assist in planning, implementing, and monitoring a fertilizer program.
• Maintain plant records including mapping, labels and signs.
• Participate in weekend watering rotation and support greenhouse operations.
• Assist with bed setup for events and tear-down as needed.
• Operate power equipment and work in varied weather conditions.
• Look after greenhouse facilities and equipment maintenance.
