Job summary

GrayWolf is seeking Structural Welders for our Rincon, GA project. The role involves raising, placing and uniting girders, columns and other structural‑steel members to form completed structures.

Qualified candidates have at least three years of heavy industrial welding experience, knowledge of TIG, MIG and Arc welding, and welding certifications. A toolbox and required pre-hire steps are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of heavy industrial welding experience.
• Ability to identify welding techniques (TIG, MIG, Arc) and metals properties.
• Completion of welding certification(s) required by company and/or client.
• Must have locking toolbox and tools.
• Must be able to successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements.

Responsibilities

• Welding safety – work safely around hazards in construction field.
• Welding tools – use hand, electric, pneumatic and hydraulic tools safely.
• Blueprint reading – read plans, isometrics, arrangements, details and drawings.
• Visualizes objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
• Secure components using geometry, metal properties, weld shrinkage and techniques.
• Bolt, clamp and tack weld parts to secure in position for welding.
• Prepare material for welding by cutting or grinding.
• Set material in stands, racks, hoists for welding.
• Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, TIG or MIG welding.
• Repair products by dismantling, straightening and reshaping.

Summary

A Structural Welder raises, places and unites girders, columns and other structural‑steel members to form completed structures or structure frameworks.

Essential Duties

• Welding Safety – work safely around the hazards associated with the construction field.
• Welding Tools – use hand, electric, pneumatic and hydraulic tools and in a safe manner.
• Blue Print Reading – Correctly reads and understands plans, isometrics, arrangement drawings, details, specifications, erection manuals and/or blue prints and makes competent decisions based on measurable criteria.
• Visualizes objects in three-dimensions from plans and drawings.
• Secure components together applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
• Bolt, clamp and tack weld parts to secure in position for welding.
• Prepare material for welding by cutting or grinding using pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and/or grinder.
• Set material in stands, racks , hoists etc. for welding
• Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas shielded arc, gas shielded arc, or gas welding equipment.
• Repair products by dismantling, straightening and reshaping.
• Reassemble parts using cutting torch, straightening press and hand tools.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years minimum heavy industrial field experience as a Welder.
• Ability to identify all techniques of welding (TIG, MIG, Arc etc.) and know all properties of various types of metals and how heat affects them.
• Completion of welding certification(s) required by company and/or client.
• Must have locking toolbox and tools necessary to perform the job.
• Must be able to successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements.

Physical/Site Requirements

• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds.
• Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
• Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
• PPE footwear/prescription safety glasses or eye shields required.
