Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 10 years of graphic design/related communications experience (waivable with Master's degree and 5 years recent related experience).
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
• Experience gathering information and planning concepts by studying information and materials, managing workflow and scheduling.
• Experience illustrating concepts by rough layouts and preparing finished copy/art for typesetting/printing.
• Ability to prepare final layouts by marking and pasting up finished copy/art.
• Experience coordinating with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc.
• Demonstrated creative graphic design and layout skills, customer focus, deadline orientation, and ability to handle challenging customer service issues.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Communication & Content Creation: develop communication plans and create speeches, articles, presentations, press releases, and internal/external communications.
• Digital & Multimedia Management: manage content for websites and social media; produce, edit, and manage multimedia content including video, photography, and graphic design; track analytics to refine strategy.
• Event & Exhibit Management: oversee lifecycle for ~40 annual exhibits/events, including planning, logistics, budgeting, and report preparation.
• Administrative & Historical Support: provide administrative, media relations, outreach support; conduct archival research and transcription for historical products.

Position title: Graphic Designer III

Location: Arlington, Virginia

Clearance required: SECRET

Responsibilities Include (but Are Not Limited To)

• Strategic Communication & Content Creation: Develop communication plans and create a wide range of written content, including speeches, feature articles, presentations, press releases, and internal/external communications.
• Digital & Multimedia Management: Manage content for public/internal websites and social media platforms. Produce, edit, and manage all multimedia products, including video, photography, and graphic design. Track and report on web/social media analytics to refine strategy.
• Event & Exhibit Management: Provide full lifecycle management for ~ 40 annual national/international exhibits and events, including strategic planning, logistics, budget management, and the preparation of all required approval packages and reports.
• Administrative & Historical Support: Provide general administrative, media relations, and outreach support. Conduct archival research and provide transcription services to create historical products.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in graphics, fine, or visual arts/communications from an accredited institution and have at least ten (10) years of experience in graphic design and/or related communications field.
• The requirement for ten (10) years of experience may be waived if the proposed Graphic Designer III possesses a master's degree in visual communications from an accredited institution and five (5) years of recent related experience.
• Experience with Adobe Cloud Creative Suite.
• Experience in gathering information and materials, planning concepts by studying information and materials, managing workflow and scheduling.
• Experience in illustrating concepts by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts, obtaining approval of concept by submitting rough layout for approval, preparing finished copy and art for typesetting and printing.
• Ability to prepare final layouts by marking and pasting up finished copy and art.
• Experience completing projects that require coordinating with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc.
• Demonstrated creative graphic design and layout skills, creative services skills, customer focused, show flexibility and attention to detail, be deadline oriented, use desktop publishing tools and demonstrated ability to manage challenging customer service issues.
