Job description

Wellness Equity Alliance is a national multidisciplinary health organization that designs and delivers integrated, community-based care for populations most impacted by health inequities. We do this through mobile and field-based models, providing medical care, behavioral health services, substance use treatment, harm reduction, and care coordination in nontraditional settings such as encampments, schools, reentry sites, and rural communities, as well as with sovereign tribal nations. Grounded in trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and data-driven practices, WEA combines clinical expertise, lived experience, and advanced population health analytics to reduce barriers to care, improve continuity, and strengthen local systems. We have partnered with more than 60 public agencies, managed care plans, and community-based organizations across the U.S. to implement scalable, sustainable programs that are advancing health equity and improving outcomes for historically marginalized populations.

We are known as Renegades, Rebels, Disruptors, and Dreamers. If that sounds like you, we want you on our team.

Engagement Overview

Wellness Equity Alliance is seeking an experienced independent Graphic Designer to provide part-time design services supporting organizational, marketing, communications, executive, programmatic, and public health initiatives.

This engagement calls for a versatile design professional who can move comfortably between a leadership presentation, social media graphic, program brochure, event materials, website graphics, data visualization, or short-form video while maintaining a consistent and recognizable brand.

The ideal contractor is an exceptional visual communicator who can understand the intent behind complex information and translate concepts, data, strategy, and technical content into materials that are accurate, easy to understand, visually compelling, and appropriate for the intended audience.

Projects are often time-sensitive and priorities can shift quickly. Strong judgment, responsiveness, flexibility, organization, and attention to detail are essential. The contractor will collaborate with Marketing and Communications, executive leadership, and cross-functional teams across WEA’s healthcare and public health initiatives.

Scope of Services
Presentation & Executive Communications Design

Create professional, brand-aligned presentations for organizational initiatives, conferences, program presentations, and external engagements.

Work with leadership and subject matter experts to identify the central message and translate complex information into clear, compelling visual narratives.

Develop charts, diagrams, infographics, timelines, process graphics, tables, maps, and other visual elements that make information easier to understand without compromising accuracy.

Strengthen existing presentations through improved storytelling, layout, typography, visual hierarchy, data visualization, and brand consistency.

Develop presentation templates that allow teams to create materials efficiently while protecting the integrity of the WEA brand.

Brand & Marketing Design

Translate WEA’s visual identity into high-quality creative across print, digital, social media, web, events, presentations, organizational communications, thought leadership, and program materials.

Apply WEA brand standards consistently while adapting creative for different audiences, programs, regions, and channels.

Create reusable templates for frequently produced materials to improve efficiency and consistency.

Support development of WEA’s visual assets, including templates, photography, illustrations, iconography, and graphics.

Contribute to logo development and visual identity work for new programs, initiatives, and projects, ensuring appropriate relationship to the WEA master brand.

Digital, Social Media & Website Design

Create graphics and visual assets for LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and other digital channels.

Develop social media graphics communicating health information, organizational news, leadership perspectives, awareness campaigns, and program updates.

Create website graphics, banners, visual elements, and campaign imagery in coordination with Marketing and Communications.

Video & Multimedia

Support development and production of short-form video for social media, presentations, events, storytelling, and digital communications.

Edit footage, incorporate typography and graphics, create simple motion graphics, and prepare content for distribution.

Apply WEA’s visual identity consistently across video and multimedia content.

Recommend effective visual approaches for translating stories, interviews, and field content into engaging multimedia assets.

Public Health & Information Design

Create visual communications that make complex healthcare and public health information understandable without oversimplifying or altering meaning.

Design with consideration for health literacy, readability, accessibility, cultural responsiveness, and diverse audiences.

Represent people and communities with dignity, avoiding visual approaches that reinforce stereotypes, stigma, or sensationalize health and social challenges.

Events, Print & Production

Design materials for conferences, community events, outreach initiatives, and other WEA engagements, including signage, banners, handouts, brochures, rack cards, display graphics, and branded collateral.

Deliver accurate, production-ready files for professional print and digital distribution, including correct bleed, resolution, color modes, sizing, and vendor specifications.

Review proofs and final assets to catch design, production, formatting, or consistency issues before release.

Collaboration & Project Coordination

Collaborate with Marketing and Communications, executive leadership, program, operations, clinical, and public health stakeholders on project goals and deliverables.

Respond to shifting priorities and time-sensitive organizational needs.

Deliver organized source files, consistent naming conventions, and version-controlled assets.

Communicate proactively about project status, dependencies, and deadlines.
