Job summary

Penske Entertainment’s Graphic Design Intern will assist in creating a wide range of visuals for race-week graphics, social posts, and printed materials. You’ll work with IMS, INDYCAR, and Indy 500 projects, learning from senior designers and contributing to a growing portfolio.

You’ll collaborate across departments, stay on brand, and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, events-driven environment, with opportunities to develop professionally during the internship.

What You’ll Do

As a Graphic Design Intern, you will assist in creating a wide range of visual content, from race week graphics and social media posts to printed materials and custom digital assets. Your work will support INDYCAR, INDY NXT by Firestone, and all Indianapolis Motor Speedway events, including the legendary Indianapolis 500. You’ll be part of a tight-knit team of passionate designers—learning the ropes, sharing ideas, and working on projects that grow both your creative skills and your portfolio. All while staying true to brand guidelines and collaborating with our talented creatives.

In this role, you’ll be an important part of delivering top-tier experiences to fans, partners, and teams across the motorsports world. You’ll take ownership of key responsibilities, collaborate across departments, and bring energy and innovation to a fast-paced environment.

Your Responsibilities
  • Receives job requests and instructions from Marketing Operations Manager, Sr Art Director and Graphic Designers of Creative Services and works on a project from start to finish.
  • Supports full-time designers with their projects; works as production artist when needed.
  • Design dynamic social graphics within brand guidelines.
  • Files and maintains project digital archives.
  • Works with creative team to concept and design campaigns for IMS events, INDYCAR and other IMS properties.
  • Attends meetings pertaining to individual projects or brainstorming.
  • Helps with event marketing activities during race weekends.
  • Works on call for INDYCAR race weekends.
  • Have a strong desire to learn and grow in your professional craft.
  • Build a dynamic portfolio and gain support and advice for finding a full-time position

Required Experience & Skills
  • Must have a strong understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and After Effects
  • Must have ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Education
  • Attending a four-year college or university in graphic, digital or motion design or digital media.
Leadership
  • This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
FLEXIBILITY & TRAVEL
  • Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexible schedules can be made to accommodate students enrolled in classes and other special circumstances.
  • Extended hours required during race weekends and key event periods (especially May)
  • Our teams work together to create flexibility that supports life in and out of work
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Extended periods of standing or walking (as needed)
  • Comfort working indoors/outdoors and around event noise
