Our Blood Institute is actively looking for a Grants & Advancement Director. This position will lead Our Blood Institute's grant development and institutional funding strategy, with primary responsibility for identifying, securing, and managing funding from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other philanthropic organizations. This position serves as OBI's lead grant writer, overseeing the full grant lifecycle from prospect research and proposal development through submission, compliance, reporting, and stewardship.

Working collaboratively with executive leadership, finance, program leaders, the Director will translate organizational priorities into compelling, competitive funding proposals that advance OBI's mission, innovation, research, education, and community impact. The position will also cultivate strategic funding partners, expand institutional giving opportunities, and support initiatives through planned giving, major gift solicitation, and corporate philanthropy.

The Director will monitor emerging funding opportunities, build relationships with grant-making organizations and strategic partners, and develop a sustainable pipeline of institutional funding that supports OBI's long-term strategic goals, including growth in research, community health, and emerging healthcare initiatives such as cell and gene therapy.

Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Pay: Competitive pay to include shift differential and holiday pay and is based on education and/or experience and $500 bonus after 6 months and $1,000 bonus after 1 year!

Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (may vary)

Required Qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree required.
  • Outstanding verbal and writing skills. Attention to detail and extremely organized.
  • Experience with managing multiple priorities and programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, public administration, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in grant writing, institutional giving, nonprofit development, or philanthropy.
  • Demonstrated success securing foundation, corporate, and government grants.
  • Experience with planned giving and major gift development preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, communication, project management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with CRM systems and grant management software.
  • Healthcare, biomedical, or nonprofit experience preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:

Grant Development & Strategic Partnerships

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive grant strategy aligned with OBI's strategic priorities.
  • Research, identify, and pursue foundation, corporate, government, and institutional funding opportunities.
  • Lead the preparation, writing, submission, and management of competitive grant proposals.
  • Coordinate grant budgets, supporting documentation, reporting requirements, and compliance.
  • Build and maintain relationships with foundation program officers, corporate partners, and funding organizations.
  • Develop strategic partnerships that advance OBI's mission, research, education, innovation, and community impact.
  • Track grant outcomes and prepare impact reports for funding partners.

Development Strategy

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive development strategy that includes planned giving, major gift solicitation, corporate partnerships, foundation support, and strategic fundraising initiatives.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and board members to identify and cultivate new philanthropic opportunities.
  • Support long-term fundraising initiatives and diversify revenue streams.
  • Identify opportunities for sponsorships and mission-aligned partnerships.

Stewardship & Relationship Management

  • Utilize OBI's CRM to manage funding opportunities, grant pipelines, donor activity, and institutional relationships.
  • Develop stewardship strategies for grant funders, major donors, corporate partners, and community leaders.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of funding history, reporting requirements, and relationship activity.
  • Prepare meaningful impact reports and stewardship communications that encourage continued investment in OBI's mission.

Development Operations

  • Maintain accurate grant and development records within the CRM system, Bloomerang.
  • Track proposal deadlines, reporting schedules, compliance requirements, and funding outcomes.
  • Develop reports and dashboards for executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Monitor development metrics and recommend strategies to improve funding success.
