Job summary

Cedar Rapids Community School District is seeking a Grant Wood – Tier I SEBH Leader to work with administration and staff to strengthen MTSS and SEBH supports for students. The role emphasizes collaboration, feedback, and district-aligned practices to advance Every Learner: Future Ready.

Additional time beyond the contract day is included, with a $500 annual stipend. Ideal candidates have leadership background, equity focus, and knowledge of MTSS and related frameworks.

  • Leadership experience in roles like PLC Leader/Team Leader preferred.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Ability to design, present, and facilitate adult learning experiences.
  • Knowledge of Professional Learning Community processes.
  • Knowledge and experience with digital literacy strategies.
  • Standard Teaching License with three years of teaching experience, Cedar Rapids district preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and leadership for MTSS aligned with the district vision and focus.
  • Collaborate with Tier I Team and staff to articulate goals and action steps for MTSS.
  • Monitor and evaluate MTSS implementation, including Core SEBH curriculum/resources.
  • Provide professional learning to teachers/PLC teams at the building level.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and collaborative school culture.
  • Engage in district professional learning to build MTSS leadership capacity.

Job description

Grant Wood – Tier I SEBH Leader

The District’s Tier I SEBH Leader works collaboratively with the building administration and teaching staff to create, facilitate, and evaluate the system for addressing social emotional behavioral health needs of students in a coordinated, systematic multi-tiered system of support.

Position Summary

MTSS Tier I SEBH Leader works collaboratively with the Cedar Rapids Community School District Teacher Leadership Team, District Administration, and teaching staff to support teachers and assure that we deliver on the District Vision of Every Learner: Future Ready.

Compensation & Additional Time

Additional time outside of the contract day accompanies this position.

  • Deepen and maintain own knowledge of equity principles and culturally responsible pedagogy to identify and address inequitable practices and engage teachers in using an equity lens to reflect on their practice.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to become knowledgeable in the High Reliability Schools framework.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing a multi-tiered system of support.
  • A commitment to supporting the growth of others and the belief that adult learning is essential to student learning.
  • Previous experience in leadership positions desired, such as PLC Leader, Team Leader, or Department Chair preferred.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Ability to design, present, and facilitate adult learning experiences preferred.
  • Knowledge of Professional Learning Community process and protocol.
  • Knowledge and experience with research-based strategies within digital literacy.
  • Standard Teaching License with three years of teaching experience with at least one year of experience in the Cedar Rapids Community School District preferred (extra duty positions).
Essential Job Elements
  • Provides direction and leadership for the program consistent with the District vision, mission, and focus.
  • Works collaboratively with members of the building Tier I Team and building staff to create, communicate and carry out the goals and action steps of MTSS.
  • Works collaboratively with members of the building Tier I Team and building administration to monitor and evaluate the implementation of MTSS including, but not limited to, Core SEBH curriculum and resources.
  • Works collaboratively with members of the building Tier I Team and building staff to provide professional learning to all teachers and/or PLC teams of teachers at the building level to carry out the goals and action steps of MTSS.
  • Works collaboratively with the building and district staff to ensure a safe, supportive, and collaborative culture.
  • Engages in regular district professional learning opportunities to build capacity for leading and supporting the school's MTSS system.
Measures of Effectiveness and Professional Growth
  • All Teacher Leader Positions will be evaluated annually to provide opportunities for the teacher to reflect upon his/her practice and for the administration to provide feedback to enhance professional growth.
  • CRCSD evaluation procedure will be used.
  • TLS rubric identifying levels of development will be used to monitor growth and determine if the teacher leader is performing at a satisfactory level to continue in the teacher leader role.
  • Personal reflection on professional growth in relation to essential job elements.
  • Meets or exceeds all performance targets.

The work environment is typically quiet and may require professional working hours that extend beyond a typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. workday. The employee will frequently work in various areas of the classroom, including desks, on or near the floor, and outdoors while supervising students.
