Job summary

Broward County Public Schools is seeking a Teacher Specialist-Early Childhood for the Fort Lauderdale area to ensure compliance with early childhood education standards and provide targeted support to students, families, and staff. The position requires a Florida Early Childhood certification (Birth - Third Grade or PreK/Primary) and substantial experience in early childhood education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education with Florida certification in Early Childhood (Birth - Third Grade) or PreK/Primary.
• Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in the early childhood field within the last ten years.
• Computer skills as required for the position.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with state and federal early childhood legislation.
• Provide in-depth educational evaluations of early childhood students as needed.
• Assist early childhood teachers in screening and applying developmentally appropriate practices.
• Serve on staffing committees and develop IEPs for early childhood exceptional students.
• Coordinate services to learning-impaired early childhood students from community agencies.
• Develop and provide professional development in coordination with the Department of Professional Development Standards and Support.
• Counsel parents, teachers, administrators on implications of learning/behavior problems.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to early childhood teachers and staff.
• Identify relevant research related to early childhood education.
• Evaluate early childhood instructional materials.
• Utilize technology for communication, data-driven instruction, and collaboration with parents.
