Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience in grants administration.
  • 5-7 years progressive grants administration experience in academic/medical or nonprofit settings.
  • Strong communication and collaboration with PIs, departments, and sponsors.

Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative guidance to PIs and research staff on grant proposals, awards, and subawards.

  • Maintains RPPR reporting, continuations and re-budgeting, and manages closeout documentation.
  • Negotiates award terms, budgets, and scope of work, and oversees subaward agreements.

About the Job

Responsible for conducting pre and post award activities related to grants at MedStar Health Research Institute. Works with Principal Investigators to prepare proposal packages and take the lead in submissions to outside sponsors. Takes the lead in drafting subaward documents and assuring that MHRI grants are in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides administrative guidance support and assistance to scientific centers including Principal Investigators (PIs) Scientific Center Administrative Directors (SCAs) and research staff on grant proposals award agreements and subawards. This include the following elements
  • Reviews sponsor requests for proposals (RFPs), develops project timelines and requirements in conjunction with PI/SCA, maintains communications with proposal research staff, including external teams regarding submission and timelines.
  • Serves as point of contact with all external sponsors.
  • Compiles reviews and submits federal applications while assuring that the applications meet all applicable federal and MedStar guidelines and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinates in regular proposal review meetings with research teams and assures that PIs are kept apprised of changes in application processes forms and instructions.
  • Negotiates award terms and conditions budgets and scope of work as appropriate and approve sponsored agreements.
  • Assures that technical reporting guidelines such as the RPPR or other progress reports are maintained. Assists PIs and SCAs with annual continuations including any re-budgets preparation of forms electronic processing and administrative review. This also includes managing the close out process and gathering all required documentation from various stakeholders for submission to the sponsor.
  • Prepares and monitors subaward agreements for federal awards in accordance with prime award terms and using the Federal Demonstration Partnership templates and guidelines.
  • Assists OCGM Manager with internal awards programs including program development, proposal, collections, communications with stakeholders, and other duties as needed.
  • Reviews contract and grant award terms and conditions to ensure that this information is relayed to the research and administrative teams appropriately.
  • Reviews, endorses, negotiates, and accepts federal and foundation agreements for research activities and terms and conditions acceptable to MedStar and PI.
  • Maintains frequent contact with contracting parties, sponsors, and study centers for efficient and timely contract negotiations and execution.
  • Assists in developing standard operating procedures for the Office of Contracts and Grants Management or other offices as requested.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, economics, health services, orrelated discipline required, oran equivalent combination of training and experience or certification in grants administration required
Experience
  • 5-7 years Progressive experience administering grants in an academic medical center setting, non-profit research institution, or federal agency preferred
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
Salary

This position has a hiring range of USD $65,062.00 - USD $117,291.00 /Yr.
