Job summary

The Andersons, Inc. is seeking a Grain Operations Supervisor to oversee daily grain facility operations in Michigan. You will manage equipment maintenance, housekeeping, inventory, and grain quality control while leading a team of grain workers.

For more information, please visit www.andersonsinc.com.Position OverviewOur Grain Operations Supervisor role is responsible for overseeing daily grain facility operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable performance through equipment maintenance, housekeeping, inventory management, and grain quality control. The position leads and develops a team of grain workers, setting priorities, coordinating workflows, and driving employee performance and engagement. Responsibilities also include managing safety programs, conducting investigations, monitoring budgets, and supporting capital planning to meet operational and financial objectives. Our Grain Operations Supervisors optimize grain handling, drying, blending, and storage processes while maintaining compliance with industry standards and minimizing grain shrink. This role is ideal for a hands-on agricultural operations leader who enjoys developing teams, improving processes, and balancing operational, safety, and financial performance in a grain handling environment.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain and document the operations of the facility through proper and timely maintenance of equipment and daily housekeepingSelect, train, develop and evaluate performance of grain worker team membersLead the facility safety programs including safety committee meetings, safety training, and exposure and root cause analysis investigationsAssist with projecting annual goals and develop annual operating expense and capital budgets. Track budgets throughout the year.Manage grain flows to maximize the drying and mixing of grain with daily inventory updates communication with leadership. Implement procedures to ensure that grain qualities meet or exceed industry standards through proper binning, drying and aeration.Track all losses and gains of grain shrink that have resulted from drying, aeration and mechanical movement of grain and maximize blending of grain to offset grain shrink and financial impactWhat is expected of you and others at this levelCoordinates and supervises the daily activities of business or technical support or production teamSets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisorsDecisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan, receives guidance and oversight from managerTypically, does not spend more than 20% of time performing the work supervisedCompetencies Expected of You and Others at This LevelManages Conflict - Handling conflict situations effectively and with a minimum of noiseCommunicates Effectively - Develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiencesDecision Quality - Making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forwardDirects Work - Providing direction, delegating and removing obstacles to get work doneResourcefulness - Securing and deploying resources effectively and efficientlyDemonstrates Self-Awareness - Using a combination of feedback and reflection to gain productive insight into personal strengths and weaknessesMinimum Qualifications & SkillsBachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
