Job summary

POET Grain is seeking a Grain Merchandiser to engage with farmers and commercial partners, procuring grain and analyzing market conditions. You will work in a fast-paced team environment, building relationships and delivering competitive bids to meet POET’s needs.

Responsibilities include contract management, record-keeping, and tailoring marketing strategies to customer requirements. Occasional travel up to 50% may be required as part of duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 3–5 years in grain merchandising/origination/advisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of grain marketing, contracts and market drivers.
• Sales/customer relations background to build market territory.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with farmers and grain partners.
• Procure grain via on-farm visits, calls, and meetings.
• Analyze local supply/demand, market conditions and bid competitively.
• Manage grain contracts, records and customer database.
