Job summary

Eurofins Grain Inspection is seeking Grain Inspectors to support sample probing, grading and testing workflows in a facility environment. You will handle weight, moisture, foreign material and mycotoxin tests, and relay results to clients with accuracy.

Responsibilities include training new inspectors, maintaining readiness for client inquiries, and adhering to USDA grain standards. Excellent safety, teamwork, and communication required; full-time schedule with stable shifts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, preferred with 0-3 years’ experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Responsive, independent problem solver and action-oriented.
  • Responsive to clients’ safety and PPE requirements.
  • Proficient computer skills; Microsoft Excel/Outlook preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Grain samples are inspected and graded; testing and reporting results to clients.
  • Assist in ensuring proper flow of samples through the facility and maintain accuracy in testing.
  • Back-up to Grain Prober/Sampler as needed.
  • Maintain records and communicate results to client grain companies and merchandisers.
  • Train incoming Grain Inspectors in testing procedures and equipment.

Job Description
  • Overall Objectives and Responsibilities
  • Grain Inspectors take on a diverse set of responsibilities to ensure the seamless operation of the facility, which includes tasks such as sample probing, commodity grading, testing, as well as general maintenance.
  • Ensure proper flow of sample testing through the facility and steady flow of grain to the facility.
  • Act as a back-up to Grain Prober/Sampler.
  • Responsible for accuracy in reporting results; record test results and provide information to the client of grain truck driver.
  • Represent Eurofins Grain Inspection to client company by acting as a liaison between facility and client grain company merchandisers.
  • Relay information to the grain operations manager for proper action
  • Process necessary paperwork required by the client company and Eurofins Grain Inspection
  • Inspect and grain grade samples in a timely manner.
  • Test samples of grain by accepted industry practice using visual procedure and computerized equipment, test sample for weight, moisture, foreign material, damage; including potential mycotoxin and non-gmo testing.
  • Assist in training incoming Grain Inspectors in all aspects of grain inspection and respective testing. Assist in evaluating ability and readiness of new inspectors to assume responsibility for testing.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations relative to assigned analytical work; maintain and assist others in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to operate all required basic lab equipment within department in accordance to USDA grain standards.
  • Maintain a perpetual state of readiness and willingness to respond to the queries and needs of clients, staff, and co-workers.
  • Remain current on technical, industry, and business advancements and trends as suggested by the Department Leader or supervisor.
  • Recommend more accurate or efficient laboratory equipment or procedures.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with all company employees. Communicate orally and in writing to co-workers.
  • Promote the company image through the exercising of sound and ethical business practices related to the public and our customers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
