The opportunity

• Design of Plumbing and Fire Protection systems within the built environment, with an emphasis on sustainable design
• Support designing plumbing systems such as domestic water, sanitary/vent, and storm systems
• Support designing fire protection systems fire sprinkler and standpipe systems
• Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and consultants to develop integrated solutions for complex buildings
• Undertaking and documenting engineering analysis work, including code research, load calculations, and equipment sizing, in a clear manner
• Communicate technical ideas to a broad range of audiences using various formats, including presentations and workshops
• Writereports documenting calculation methods and results, design assumptions, and other technical information
• The ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work and exceptional organization skillsrequiredfor our changing environment
• Influence with design on sustainable outcome for our clients to align with Arup sustainability commitment
• Assistingin construction administration activities such as site visits and submittal reviews

• Internship experience inengineering-related firm or evidence of extracurricular activity in the field preferred
• Shown ability to perform in a paid work environment with intermittent supervision preferred
• Past historyof technical presentations and technical writingpreferred

• Candidate must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future
• No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role
• Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts

Chicago Hiring Range – The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performedin New Jersey $73,500 to $80,500 per year. This range iscommensuratewith experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Chicago will differ.
