Job summary

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Graduate Nurse to provide direct patient care after graduation and prior to licensure, with licensure earned within 90 days in Missouri. This role supports orthopedic/nursing teams on a 23-bed unit focusing on limb salvage, trauma care, and advanced surgical care.

The position is full-time with night shifts and offers a sign-on bonus up to $7,500. BSN preferred; nursing diploma/associates accepted with required licensure within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred (BSN).
• Must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation to remain employed in Missouri.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
• Educates patients and families on illness/injury management and home care needs.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess patients’ physical, psychosocial and emotional needs.
• Develops and implements plans of care with the healthcare team.
• Evaluates patient responses and modifies care plans as needed.
• Participates in patient safety, quality and regulatory initiatives and professional development.

Orthopedics (7300/7400) 23 bed unit is a care center that utilizes state-of-the-art techniques in limb salvage, minimally invasive options for injuries, advanced surgical repair to correct complex deformities, and highly specialized surgical intervention for trauma.

Role Purpose

The Graduate Nurse provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care after completing a nursing program and before licensure. Will be required to obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation from an accredited school of nursing to remain employed in a HSO in the state of Missouri.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate patient's physical, psychosocial and emotional needs.
• Develops and implements individual plans of care in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
• Evaluates patient's response and modifies plan of care accordingly throughout the patient's stay.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
