Job summary

Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking motivated graduate-level Social Work students enrolled in an MSW program to join as Social Work Interns in Lincoln and Norfolk, NE. This onsite internship provides hands-on experience in assessments, case management, and interdisciplinary collaboration under licensed supervision.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program (two-to-four-year institution) OR recently graduated (within one year).
• Preferred: Active MSW enrollment in an accredited program and foundational coursework in social work practice, ethics, and human behavior.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are valued.

Responsibilities

• Assist with client assessments, psychosocial evaluations, and service planning under supervision.
• Support case management activities including referrals, coordination of services, and follow-up.
• Participate in individual, family, or group-based interventions as appropriate to the setting.
• Maintain accurate and timely case documentation in line with agency standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and observe crisis intervention and problem-solving efforts.
