Job summary

ByteDance in San Jose is seeking a Research Scientist / Algorithm Engineer to join the Applied Machine Learning team. You will contribute to the AML platform powering recommendations, ads, and search, owning the end-to-end ML lifecycle from research to deployment.

You will explore deep integration of recommendation algorithms and LLMs, with opportunities to tackle complex problems and grow in a fast-paced, global tech company. Onboarding by year-end preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• Familiar with the Linux development environment; strong fundamentals in systems programming, data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Eager to take on challenges and think deeply.
• Prior experience in machine learning algorithms or large-scale distributed systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize the AML Machine Learning Platform, focusing on building an industry-leading ML platform for AI developer experience.
• Understand business needs of algorithm engineers and design solutions across the full model lifecycle—development, debugging, training, evaluation and inference.
