Job summary

ByteDance’s Data-AML-Engine Orchestration team builds large-scale machine learning infrastructure powering online model serving across TikTok and other ByteDance products. We develop orchestration, scheduling, and resource management systems that connect heterogeneous compute with production ML workloads.

You will work on systems that impact GPU utilization, serving latency, availability, and infrastructure reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in Go, C++, or Python with strong CS foundations.
• Familiarity with Linux and operating systems, networks, and distributed systems.
• Strong hands-on and exploratory abilities to investigate systems via code, metrics, logs, and experiments.
• Quantitative, data-driven problem solving with ability to define measurements and test hypotheses.

Responsibilities

• Design and build foundational orchestration capabilities for ML platforms (Kubernetes Operators, container runtimes, and lifecycle management for jobs and services).
• Build multi-tenant resource and quota systems supporting priorities, preemption, fair sharing, elasticity, and cross-cluster scheduling; improve GPU utilization and cost efficiency.
• Develop lifecycle orchestration for online model serving including distribution, deployment, upgrades, rollback, autoscaling, and disaster recovery.
• Create serving orchestration and traffic management for disaggregated clusters, including topology-aware scheduling and QoS/SLA management.
