Job summary

Gannon University in Erie, PA, seeks a Graduate Assistant for the Environmental Science and Engineering Department (Teaching and Research) to support lab prep and instructional activities. The position is part-time, 9 months, with about 10 hours per week, and requires active enrollment in a relevant MS program and a driver’s license.

Qualifications

Must be enrolled full-time in the MS program in Environmental Science & Management or a similar graduate program.
Undergraduate degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline.
General chemistry coursework or wet chemistry experience.
Driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

Prepare lab spaces, materials, supplies, and equipment for environmental labs.
Set up and assist instructional labs, demonstrations, field activities, and hands-on learning.
Maintain, calibrate, and operate field and lab instruments for environmental measurements.
Support lab operations: inventory, organization, supplies, and safety.
Prepare chemical solutions and conduct wet chemistry tests for instructional activities.
Enter and summarize data using Excel or similar software.
Promote laboratory safety and chemical hygiene practices.
Assist with outreach, recruitment, and student engagement activities.
Support faculty projects, events, and departmental communications.
