Job summary

Arup is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer in Washington, DC to design HVAC systems for sustainable buildings. You will work with clients, architects, and engineers to develop integrated solutions and perform energy and thermal analyses using Revit MEP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Architectural Engineering, or Building Sciences.
• Coursework in heat transfer and thermodynamics, fluid dynamics or HVAC design.
• Developing interest in the built environment.
• Proven leadership experience and time management skills.
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas clearly.
• Initiative, enthusiasm, teamwork, creativity.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for team-based work.
• Presentation skills with colleagues and clients.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC services for the built environment with a focus on sustainability.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers and consultants on integrated solutions.
• Perform engineering analysis and modelling (load calculations, energy analysis, façade thermal analysis, airflow modelling).
• Document system design in Revit MEP.
• Communicate technical ideas to diverse audiences via presentations and workshops.
• Write reports detailing calculation methods, design assumptions and results.
• Prioritize tasks and remain organized in a dynamic environment.
• Influence design choices to align with Arup sustainability commitments.
