Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (geotechnical focus).
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Desire to work toward California PE and GE licensure.
• Creative, methodical and pragmatic approach to problem solving.
• Proficient communication and presentations skills.
• Resilient, solution-oriented mindset with growth focus.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.

• Valid CA driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Log soil borings (hollow-stem auger, mud rotary, sonic) per ASTM D2488/USCS and Caltrans conventions; document SPT and logged data.
• Observe CPT soundings, test pits, and geophysical surveys; coordinate with drilling/subcontractors.
• Coordinate USA/DigAlert clearances, encroachment permits, and site access before fieldwork.
• Monitor instrumentation (inclinometers, settlement plates, piezometers, vibration monitors) and reduce readings.
• Maintain daily field reports, photo logs, and quantity tracking for drilling/construction activities.
• Assist with geotechnical lab tests and review results for consistency with field logs.
• Prepare boring logs in OpenGround; develop subsurface profiles and cross sections.
• Perform or assist geotechnical analyses under a Geotechnical Engineer (foundations, slope stability, liquefaction, etc.).
• Draft sections of geotechnical investigation reports and Caltrans FR format foundation reports; memos.
• Assist with figures, site plans, and boring-location maps.
