Job summary

Black & Veatch Corporation is seeking an entry-level Graduate Engineer, Mechanical for Data Centers. Based in Overland Park, KS, you will contribute to HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design for data center projects within the Buildings sub-discipline.

You’ll engage in developing engineering deliverables, performing calculations, and supporting senior staff while growing in a collaborative, employee-owned environment. Hybrid work arrangements may be available after 90 days.

Qualifications

Job Summary

As an entry‑level Mechanical Engineer at Black & Veatch, you will play a meaningful role in addressing some of the world’s most critical infrastructure challenges. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to diverse, impactful projects that support our clients’ goals while fostering your professional growth and advancing the success of Black & Veatch

Join our team as a Mechanical Engineer within our Buildings sub‑discipline, where you'll support projects through the design of HVAC, plumbing, and/or fire protection required for Data Centers.

Key Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black and Veatch policies and procedures
• Equipment sizing and performance calculations
• Developmentof Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams
• Develops an understanding and complies with the Black and Veatch quality program.
• Contributes to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope
• Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis
• Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements
• Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client's main interests and drivers

Preferred Qualifications

• Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamic, and heat transfer courses preferred.
• Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline
• Basic industry knowledge and technology trends
• Basic knowledge of company quality program
• Basic knowledge of constructionandconstructability practicesandprinciples

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager direction, job performance and work assignments.
