LJA Energy invites a Graduate Engineer to join our entrepreneurial, employee-owned team in Houston. You will think creatively, solve problems, and support client needs across office, field, or behind the scenes.

Required: Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering and a willingness to gain experience in the oil and gas industry. You will collaborate with leaders, participate in trainings, and grow with a broad range of clients and services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 1 year of experience in the oil and gas industry preferred.
• Strong work ethic and highly motivated student with good academic performance.
• Strong organizational and communication skills (oral and written).
• Focused and detail-oriented with ability to identify discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Obtains project information from other LJA personnel as directed.
• Performs a variety of routine engineering tasks using consulting engineering programs and procedures.
• Performs engineering tasks under close supervision applying basic principles.
• Researches, develops, and designs equipment, facilities, components and systems for oil & gas industries.
• Performs calculations and evaluations in the design of equipment and systems for industrial applications.
• Evaluates system goals and designs or selects required equipment, piping, and structures to achieve them.
• Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software to perform tasks.
• Meets deadlines per project schedule.
• Attends educational workshops and trainings to progress career.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Graduate Engineer at LJA Energy, you will be able to explore our exciting and entrepreneurial culture will allow you to think creatively, solve problems, and meet the needs of our clients daily

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE

• Obtains project information from other LJA personnel as directed.
• Perform a variety of routine tasks, which using programs and procedures of consulting engineering.
• Performs routine aspects of engineering requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles under close supervision.
• Researches, develops, and designs a variety of equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for oil and gas industry.
• Performs calculations and evaluations in the design of equipment and systems for industrial applications.
• Evaluates the desired goal of the system and develops, designs, or selects the required equipment, piping, and structures to achieve the goal.
• Will use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering task.
• Meets any and all deadlines as required by project schedule.
• Attend educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.
• Attend training to enhance skills necessary to progress career.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS

• Bachelor of Science, Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required

IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE

• 1 year of experience in the oil and gas industry
• Great work‑ethic and are a highly motivated student with a strong academic performance
• Have sincere desire to gain experience in and knowledge of the company and industry
• Good organizational and communication (oral and written) skills
• Focused and attention to detail with ability to identify discrepancies
• Collaborate and work well in a team environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel
