Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer for Power Generation in the East Region. You will join the Power Generation department as a developing engineer on a range of projects, contributing to design, analysis and documentation.

You’ll engage in teamwork across disciplines and gain exposure to client-focused delivery. Hybrid work options may be offered after the first 90 days, with relocation eligibility for candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Pre-employment onboarding requirements may include background checks, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.

You will be assigned to a functional area in our Power Generation department.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Standards

• Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black and Veatch policies and procedures

Quality / Continuous Improvement

• Develops an understanding and complies with the Black and Veatch quality program
• Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts

Engineering Production

• Contributes to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope
• Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection
• Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis
• Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements

Project Coordination

• Shares information with others as requested
• Coordinates with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership

Client Focus

• Focuses on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client’s main interests and drivers

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework and knowledge of Power Systems, Motors, Transformers, Renewable Energy, Power Delivery, or Three Phase Power Calculations.
• Previous internship experience.
• Basic knowledge of engineering design principles, design guides and standards.
• Insights of industry trends and developing technologies.
• Fundamental knowledge of construction practices and principles.
• Skilled in Problem Solving, Written Communication, Informing, and Peer Relationships.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Work Environment

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
