Job summary

Halff is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer I to join the Local Infrastructure/Public Works team in our Phoenix, AZ office. You will assist in designing and producing municipal construction plans for roads, drainage, water, wastewater, parks and civil site work.

You will work under a Professional Engineer mentor, applying CAD/Civil 3D tools and collaborating with a team to grow technical and communication skills in a dynamic, supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or ABET-equivalent.
  • 0–3 years in Local Infrastructure/Public Works or Land Development a plus.
  • FE exam passed or within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering team to solve design challenges and produce plans.
  • Use CAD/drafting tools to display calculations and layouts for construction plans.
  • Draft reports and present plans to diverse audiences.
  • Estimate costs/quantities, perform site visits, review submittals.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Graduate Engineer I, Local Infrastructure/Public Works

Halff has an immediate opening for a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Phoenix, AZ office. This position will assist in the design and production of construction plans for municipal projects such as roadways, storm drainage systems, pipelines for water supply and sewage collection, city parks and facilities, civil site design, and stream bank stabilization. You will work as part of a team under the mentorship of a Professional Engineers (PEs) who is eager to help you grow. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, critical thinker, and problem solver. Someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is ready to take on new challenges with excellent communication skills. Background in Local Infrastructure/Public Works and/or Land Development is a plus.

What You Will Do
  • Collaborate with a talented engineering team to solve design challenges and produce construction plans for local infrastructure projects.
  • Use design software and drafting tools to accurately display and visually communicate calculations, and design layouts, and concepts in order to create construction plans to build infrastructure improvements.
  • Drafts reports and present plans to audiences with a wide range of backgrounds and technical knowledge, translating engineering and scientific information into easily digestible concepts.
  • Estimates construction costs and quantities, perform site visits, and review contractor submittals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
What You Will Need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree.
  • 0-3 years of experience in Local Infrastructure/Public Works or Land Development.
  • Passed the FE exam or able to pass within 6 months of hire.
  • Have a current Texas EIT license or the ability to obtain within 2 years of employment.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
  • Knowledge of the materials, methods, and equipment involved in the construction or repair of civil engineering related improvements.
  • Able to balance multiple and frequently conflicting objectives and make good decisions.
  • Technical experience in computer-assisted design (CAD), AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design, modeling, data recording, and analyzation related software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar productivity software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.
