Job summary

Arup in New York invites graduates to join the ITC team and help design IT, communications and technology infrastructure for the built environment. You will work on structured cabling, LANs, wireless systems, voice/data networks, audiovisuals, security, public address, and transport systems.

The role includes report writing, project specifications, and drawings in AutoCAD and Revit, with hands-on spreadsheet analysis to support discussions with architects and engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering, or Architectural Engineering.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, or Project).
  • Excellent communication skills are crucial for team-based work.
  • Keen interest in IT, communications, and technology infrastructure and systems design.
  • Detail oriented with strong planning and organizational abilities for a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design IT, communications, and technology infrastructure for built environment projects including cabling, LANs, wireless, voice, AV, security, PA, and airport/transit systems.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and project specifications.
  • Create design drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Analyze data and develop first-pass spreadsheets and reports for discussion.
  • Collaborate with disciplines and vendors; attend meetings and contribute to discussions.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or Computer Engineering, or Architectural Engineering
Master’s Degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering (preferred)
Excellent communication skills
Detail oriented with planning and organization

The ITC team is made up of Information Technology and Communications Systems Engineers - working in the built environment in the Information Technology workspace.

The opportunity
  • Design of IT, communications, and technology infrastructure for the built environment including structured cabling systems, local area networks, wireless/radio systems, voice systems, audiovisual systems, security systems, public address and customer information systems, airport systems, transit systems
  • Report writing, presentation preparations, and project specifications development
  • Work on projects design drawings using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Give structure to ideas – lots of “taking a first pass” at spreadsheets, reports and analyses for discussion later rather than instruction
  • Work with people from other disciplines and/or vendors to gain knowledge on new subjects
  • Attend meetings – listen, ask questions. Be involved in discussions with other disciplines and architects to gain knowledge & experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or Computer Engineering, orArchitectural Engineering
  • Experience with: AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, or Project)
  • Excellent communication skills are crucial for team-based working
  • Keen interest in pursuing a career in the field of IT, communications, and technology infrastructure and systems design
  • Detail oriented with excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment
  • Must be highly motivated, proactive, and willing to take on new challenges
Previous internship with relevant experience advantageous
Preferred
  • Experience with Revit
  • Working towards EIT/ FE Certification
  • History of technical presentations and writing, knowledge sharing with peers
  • Academic research or testing with relevant focus
  • Proven ability to perform in a deadline situation
  • Evidence of teamwork and leadership such as professional accomplishment or honor society
  • Master’s Degreein relevant field of Electrical or Architectural Engineering

New York Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in New York is $79,500 to $86,500 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of New York will differ.
