Position Details

The Office of Admissions for Graduate and Continuing Studies at the University of Tampa has an open position for a Graduate Admissions Counselor. The counselor will perform routine and non-routine duties requiring high proficiency for admissions work. This position reports to the Director of Graduate and Continuing Studies, Admissions with a dotted line to the Director of Enrollment Management.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the university liaison for interested and prospective students for various graduate programs for the university.
  • Provide strong follow up with students through heavy phone outreach and in person meetings.
  • Serve as the university's marketer and recruiter of graduate programs to meet targeted enrollment goals. Advise prospective students about application and enrollment procedures for the University.
  • Present program and university information to students in both online and public information sessions.
  • Review applications for admission and ensure accuracy before submitting them to the committee.
  • Manage all documentation required for applicants.
  • Work closely with operations staff to expedite application processing personally as needed. Maintain strong record keeping in student information system to create a complete electronic profile of each recruited student.
  • Assist the Director of Graduate and Continuing Studies, Admissions with other duties that will benefit the growth and development of the incoming class quantity and academic profile.

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Superior public relations, customer service, and cultural sensitivity skills, as well as public speaking skills.
  • Good computer skills with proficiency in MS Office products and web applications required.
  • Convey a professional and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Ability to serve as part of a team and demonstrate a proven ability to establish priorities and work independently.
  • Excellent writing, organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to establish priorities and manage time wisely.
  • Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.

Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Summer: Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
