Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Work Experience: 0-5 years in construction industry.
• Licenses/Certifications: NC Driver License; Erosion Control Level II; OSHA 10 or 30-hr; Traffic Control Installer/Supervisor; MSHA; EEO; Asphalt Certification; Smith System Defensive Driving.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily operation of a project crew to meet goals and align with Barnhill values.
• Mentor on safe, efficient field operations and motivate teams to exceed productivity and budget goals.
• Coordinate day-to-day schedule to ensure efficient field work and communicate needs to management.
• Assist Superintendent/PM with overall schedule, material, manpower, and potential delays.
• Read and apply plans and specifications to complete the job independently.
• Foster strong internal and external relationships across all divisions and with clients.
• Provide onsite training and coaching to direct reports and field personnel.
• Plan and communicate project needs (labor, equipment, materials) with mentors.

Job Description:

Lead, direct and oversee the safe and effective daily operation of a project crew. Take action as needed to ensure project goals, objectives and initiatives are met in alignment with the mission, vision and core values of Barnhill Contracting Company.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible to learn and develop competency in; receive/provide feedback and guidance on production rates and goals and equipment and manpower capabilities.

Collaborate with mentors on leading project teams to implement and maintain a clean and safe work site, and to motivate field operations teams to their highest efficiency to exceed project, equipment, requirements, quality control, and operating division productivity and budget goals.

Learn to effectively implement the day-to-day schedule/coordination to ensure field team is working efficiently and effectively.

Assist Superintendent/Project Manager in the management of the overall schedule by maintaining open communication of project material, manpower needs and potential challenges or delays.

Basic knowledge of plan reading and adhering to plans and specifications. Master the ability to read, understand and apply the details of the plans to complete the job independently.

Promote and support good internal and external relationships throughout all divisions and departments of Barnhill Contracting Company, with clients and the public.

Responsible for onsite training/mentoring (why & how) of direct reports and field personnel by setting clear and attainable goals and coaching.

Collaborate with mentors on effective planning and communication of project needs (i.e. labor, equipment, materials, etc.) Understand equipment capabilities and maximize utilization.

Minimum Qualifications & Training:

• Education Level: High School degree of an equivalent combination of training and work experience preferred.


• Work Experience: 0-5 years in construction industry.


• Required License/Certification: NC Driver License, Erosion Control Level II, OSHA 10 or 30-hr, Traffic Control Installer Certification, Traffic Control Supervisor Certification, MSHA, EEO, Asphalt Certification, Smith System Defensive Driving Tasks.

Essential to Job Functions:

• This job requires the following motions: standing, walking, stretching, bending, lifting, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching and squatting.


• Required regular lifting of 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.


• Walking and standing may require a full day of 12 to 15 hours.


• Will be exposed to sometimes extreme hot and cold temperatures.


• Job required riding to and from work. If the driving of company vehicle is required, then the guidelines of the company driver qualification standards must be met.
