Job summary

Thalle Construction Co., Inc. is seeking a Grade Foreman to manage earth removal on large public and private projects from our Clayton, NC office.

You will lead crews, ensure safety and efficiency, and coordinate with subcontractors, clients, and inspectors to deliver projects on time. The role requires 5–10 years’ field experience, strong communication, and the ability to interpret plans, drawings, and contract documents while maintaining strong working relationships with onsite and office

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to review and understand plan specs and drawings.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Minimum 5‑10 years’ experience in a field environment.
  • Proficient in written and verbal business communications skills.
  • Ability to give and receive written or oral instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with office and field personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Grading Foremen will supervise crews and manage earth removal on large public and private projects.
  • Ensure safety and efficiency to complete projects on time.
  • Identify and schedule components of the plan and assign manpower and equipment daily.
  • Meet with assigned employees at the start of each day to communicate daily activities.
  • Coordinate with crews, subcontractors, and material/equipment providers and interface with clients and inspectors.
  • Report all jobsite time and activity and review performance‑to‑plan with Project Engineer.
  • Adjust next day’s assignments, resources and schedules as needed.
  • Monitor ongoing activity to achieve the daily plan within master schedule and budget.
  • Create a weekly/daily Project Work Plan from contract documents and schedules.
  • Conduct work with 100% integrity and professionalism.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Thalle Construction Co., Inc. ("Thalle") is currently seeking a Grade Foreman. The Grade Foreman will report to the General Superintendent and work closely with and interact with a variety of staff while remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This position is located out of our office in Clayton, NC.

Thalle, established in 1947, is a heavy civil construction company with a corporate office in Hillsborough, NC and a regional office in Alvarado, Texas. Salary: Based Upon Qualifications and Experience

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Grading Foremen will manage the earth removal of large public and private construction projects. They are team leaders, supervising crews of workers to ensure that projects proceed smoothly. A foreman contributes the knowledge gained from education and work site experience to see to it that the crew is working safely and efficiently to complete projects on time.

  • Identify and schedule each component of the plan and assign appropriate manpower and equipment to each activity daily.
  • At the outset of each day, meet with each assigned employee to clearly and effectively communicate to that employee his required personal daily activity.
  • Coordinate with and direct the activity of all jobsite crews, subcontractors and material and equipment providers, and effectively interface with clients, inspectors, regulatory representatives and other necessary individuals or organizations.
  • At the end of each day, accurately report all jobsite time and activity, review performance‑to‑plan with Project Engineer and or Project.
  • Manage and adjust the following day’s assignments, resources and schedules.
  • Monitor all job site activity throughout the day, coordinating and balancing activity to ensure that the daily plan is achieved, making adjustments in assignment as necessary for the master plan, schedule and budget to be adhered to.
  • Working from contract documents, project plan and schedules and other relevant information, create a weekly/daily Project Work Plan.
  • Conduct work with 100% integrity and professionalism.
  • Other duties as assigned.
