Job summary

Golden Queen Mining Co., LLC, located near Mojave, California, seeks a Grade Control Technician to support ore control with field sampling, geological mapping, and data management. Through Golden Queen Mining Co., LLC, we operate a modern gold and silver open-pit, heap-leach mine just outside Mojave. The site uses conventional open-pit mining, cyanide heap leaching, and Merrill-Crowe processing to recover gold and silver from crushed and agglomerated ore. As the Grade Control Technician, you report to the Ore Control Supervisor.

What You Do

• Sample blast-holes on active drill patterns in a consistent and repeatable method.
• Under the guidance from the geologists, complete geological mapping assignments, both in the open pit environment and in the field.
• Complete applicable sampling and transportation requirements.
• Assist survey personnel with downhole scanning of voids, ore staking, and other field activities as needed.
• Develop and maintain a database/model with blast hole sample information, which is used to compare with main block-model.
• Help maintain a database of exploration and infill drill-hole information and have direct input into the grade/ounce reconciliation calculations and models.
• Complete geological mapping assignments, both in the open pit environment and in the field.
• Enter data and prepare work on geologic sections and level plans with a software package such as Leapfrog and/or Minesight in addition to using programs associated with GIS and ACAD.
• Visit mining faces often to see if the loading equipment are within ore/waste polygons that are set out by the Company’s survey crew.
• Interface with the mine-planning engineer to develop ore-polygons during a “release” of blast-hole data and to discuss ore grades past and future.
• Assist the Geology department with the management of all drilling programs and provide understanding of the orebody.
• Work closely with the laboratory department to ensure that a proper QA/QC protocol (as set by mine management) is rigorously adhered to.
• Coordinate input and information flow between Geology, Engineering, and the Mining departments.
• Be familiar with and comply with the Company’s health, safety, and environmental policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
