Job summary

The Waldorf School of New Orleans is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Teacher for our Grade 7 class. The ideal candidate is energetic, caring, and dependable, and willing to learn Waldorf pedagogy while following established lesson plans.

Responsibilities include preparing daily blocks and classes, documenting student progress, leading lessons to engage students, adapting to varied learning needs, maintaining a safe, welcoming classroom, and communicating with faculty.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Teaching, childcare, or youth program experience preferred.
• Strong command of English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare daily blocks and classes guided by Waldorf curriculum.
• Document student progress for each block and maintain high standards.
• Lead lessons to promote engagement, curiosity and participation.
• Assign classwork and homework as appropriate.
• Adapt teaching approaches to varied learning needs and styles.
• Maintain a well-managed, safe, and welcoming classroom.
• Communicate with faculty about student needs and progress.
• Follow WSNO policies and the Employee Handbook.
