SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Teach elementary school students academic, social, and motor skills in a public school setting. Teachers are expected to be organized, communicate effectively, and believe that all children can learn.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate a high level of effectiveness in teaching.
- Establish community outreach programs.
- Collaborate with administration, the Special Education Department, and all staff during Structured Teacher Planning Time, team building, and related activities.
- Prepare rigorous, engaging lessons and instructional materials that meet the individual needs of all students.
- Employ scientifically‑based research best‑practice instructional strategies.
- Post assignments, input real‑time data on IPS On‑Line weekly, contact parents weekly, and arrange parent/teacher conferences after each grading period.
- Use a variety of instructional methods and materials.
- Administer frequent assessments to monitor progress, analyze data to adjust instruction, evaluate social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Encourage parent involvement in the educational process.
- Seek and use community resources to enhance the instructional program.
- Maintain a safe, orderly classroom and playground environment.
- Resolve problems in a timely manner, using reason even with emotional topics, focusing on conflict resolution rather than blame.
- Participate in staff and curriculum development workshops, professional reading groups, and related activities, including those held during summer or outside of the regular instructional day.
- Respond promptly to customer needs and solicit feedback to improve service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Valid Indiana State Teacher’s License in Elementary Education (K‑6).
- Must be deemed Highly Qualified under the Indiana Department of Education.

- Resolve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
