Qualifications

• Must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship program.
• Preferred qualifications include completion of first year Master’s program before start, and GMP knowledge and regulatory awareness.
• 2–4 years of lab experience alongside strong basic lab skills and ability to learn new methods.

Responsibilities

Grad Intern – Operations – Process Development (Summer 2027)

What You Will Do

Operations is one of the three foundational functions at Amgen with a mission to be consistent and efficient in delivering safe and effective medicines around the world. Operations manufactures and delivers Amgen therapeutics to our patients. Made up of five subfunctions: Global Supply Chain, Process Development, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering, and spread across several sites, Operations’ aspiration is simple: Ensure patients have access to the Amgen products they need. Every patient, every time.

Process Development (PD) is the department within Operations that takes molecules from Research & Development and turns them into products which can be manufactured for therapeutic use. With the support of their hiring manager, the PD intern will complete a technical project in one of the following areas: Drug Substance Technologies, Attribute Sciences, Manufacturing and Clinical Supply, Drug Product Technologies, or Combination Product Operations. The intern will get the chance to be exposed to scientific and/or business processes within Amgen as well as analyze and interpret data into meaningful, business‑influencing outcomes, and then communicate this process to their team in a clear and compelling manner.

In conjunction with the project work, interns will have the opportunity for professional development through training sessions, an Executive Speaker Series, lab and facilities tours, one‑on‑one mentoring, and various networking events. Interns will also be able to interact with peers at Amgen‑sponsored social events.

Program Eligibility Requirements

• Must be available to work a full‑time schedule.
• Expected continued enrollment in an accredited college or university following the internship program / co‑op.
• Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship program.

Basic Qualifications

• 18 years or older
• Graduated with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Currently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship OR a Master’s program for a Master’s internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR Ph.D. for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of MBA OR Master’s OR Pharm D OR Ph.D. program before the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Master’s program for a Master’s internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year Master’s program before the internship starts
• Degree concentration(s) in Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, OR related discipline
• 2-4 years of lab experience
• Strong basic lab skills
• Ability to learn new experimental methodsStrong attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple projects consecutively
• Demonstrated ability to bring structure to complex problems, pragmatic scoping and problem‑solving approach, ability to objectively evaluate options/trade‑offs and develop executive management‑level recommendations

The base pay range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $35.34 - $41.20 per hour.
