Job summary

Unconventional, Inc. seeks a Member of Technical Staff, System Modeling (Computation), to join our hands-on R&D team building physics-based models and GPU-accelerated simulations for ML workloads. The role emphasizes cross-layer system integration and extreme co-design.

You don’t need to be an expert in every area, but you should be strong in at least one core area and solid in the rest. The position is based in the United States, with Palo Alto office perks and a competitive package.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in AI/ML, CS, Physics, EE, or Applied Math, or BS with equivalent depth.
• SciML & numerical methods expertise and parallel architectures experience.
• Experience with high-performance GPU kernel development and memory optimization.
• Experience building neural ODE surrogates for complex dynamical systems.
• ML and systems fluency with PyTorch or similar.

Responsibilities

• Architect large-scale, GPU-accelerated solvers (ODE/SDE/CDE/PDE) and tools for rapid iteration.
• Develop physics-based surrogate models exposing algorithm–hardware tradeoffs.
• Collaborate with hardware and algorithm teams to support verification of novel hardware.
