Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking a tractor/bulldozer operator in Texas with GPS experience. You will operate a tractor with concave blade to gouge, level, and distribute earth, clearing obstacles and preparing land for roads and buildings.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, following safety procedures, and maintaining equipment. Must have a high school diploma or GED and proper certification; apprenticeship completion is expected.

Responsibilities

• Move levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
• Move levers and depress pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment.
• Feel lever and listen for engine action to estimate depth of cut.
• Drive bulldozer over terrain to achieve specified grade.
• May grease, oil, and repair tractor.

General Summary

Honey Grove, TX - GPS experience preferred. Operates tractor equipped with concave blade attached across front to gouge out, level, and distribute earth and to push trees and rocks from land preparatory to constructing roads and buildings.

Essential Job Accountabilities

• Fastens attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge-pin hitches.
• Connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachment.
• Moves levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.
• Moves levers and depresses pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.
• Feels lever and listens for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut.
• Drives bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade.
• May grease, oil, and repair tractor.

Education

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience

Certification

• Proper certification required
• Completion of an apprenticeship program required.

Work Experience

• GPS Appropriate training and experience required
